Note:  Ollin ~ Ollín ~ Olin; Though the first two variations are commonly used, the recommended one is the latter (Olin) to avoid confusing it with the Castillian “hollín”.  This is due to the work initially done when translating Nahualt to Castillian.  The “ll” was used because this one corresponded to the palatal “l” sound of the Catalan.  The same with words such as Tonalli y Malinalli, but in view that those do not give themselves for an incorrect interpretation we leave as such.  With some exceptions, words from the Nahualt language are grouped based on the emphasis given on their accentuation.  The first transcribers of this language warned of this from the very beginning and they never stigmatized words.  This stigmatization to show where the emphasis is placed when pronouncing the words came later, as there were many authors who were unaware of the ancient tongues of Mexico and applied the current rules on accentuation.
