Day 13. Acatl (Cane)

Acatl

The cane is equivalent to the staff of the patriarchs.  Among the Aztecs, it is the symbol of the vertebral spine where the spiritual development of the human being is measured.  At the age of 33 years the Master Jesus was crucified; there are also 33 degrees of initiation defined in the occult masonry of antiquity, and there are also 33 vertebrae that make up our spine.

Thirty three degrees of spirituality must be walked in the path of initiation and this is the path of self-realization of every human being.

Regent God:   It is related to the Winds, the weapons of war and daily struggles in life.  The thirteenth sign of Acatl is represented by two or more bundles of arrows bound together with a red leather strap.  The regent of this sign is Tezcatlipoca-Ixquimilli, the Blindfolded God.

The Location of the Day in the Borgia Codex:      It is found in its eye, as the fires ascend through the spinal medullae, through the cane, and provide wisdom.

“Initiation is your own life.  If you want initiation, write it upon a staff.  Whoever has understanding, let him understand, because here is wisdom.  Initiation is neither bought nor sold.  Avoid those schools that give initiations through correspondence.  Avoid all those who sell initiations.”
