What is the Resistance of the Ego?

The Resistance of the Ego is not what many would expect: violent, aggressive, and ruthless. Being a mental force, the ego is limited to put to use as its secret weapon, resistance at the level of the mind. It is our duty to help identify those mechanisms that the ego uses so that we can distinguish them as they occur.

At any moment in our daily life that we observe the following phenomena, we will know that the ego exercises its resistance force:

Apologies that minimize the significance of our mistake

Immediately our ego seeks to apologize and assumes the role of martyr, being capable of even blaming itself. We see this in internal dramas when we think of ourselves as “bad people” and we swear to death not to repeat the action, as it has been a slip. Once the inner apologies convince the ego itself, the ego quickly forgets, giving the opportunity for the mistake to be repeated again.

The ego seeks to silence the mouth, the thoughts and the higher emotion.
